Draft:Movieland Park (Italy)

Movieland Park, also known as Movieland: The Hollywood Park or just Movieland, is a theme park located at Lake Garda in Italy. Opened in 2002, it is operated by the Amicabile family and apart of the Caneva World Resort..[1] The park is themed to the behind-the-scenes making of movies and television, and is infamous to it's similar attractions to ones found at theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.

History

edit

Construction for the park began in early 2001, with most of the rides completed by 2002. Originally going under the name Mister Movie Studios, it was changed to Movie Studios on opening. The park was built with a copy of the "Ultilidors" that can be found at Magic Kingdom in Florida.[2] The layout and general design of the park was inspired of that of Universal Studios Hollywood.

The park had early previews in 2002, showing only the John Rambo Stunt Show while the rest of the park was blocked off to finish construction. A website was also launched to build hype and count down the days to open. The park opened the next year in 2003.

For the next decade, new rides and attractions would be opened and closed. In 2010, the X City area would be rethemed to the more kid friendly Stone Age, partially inspired by The Flintstones. The name of the park would also change: Going from Movie Studios Park to Movieland Studios.
