Zahrat al-Uqhawan Foundation edit

Khorsheed and her sister, Arabiya Khorsheed formed one of the first Palestinian's women resistance organizations in 1933, naming it the Zahrat al-Uqhawan or "Chrysanthemum Flowers".[1] The organization collected funds to support displaced families as well as the purchase of weapons for the resistance. The Zahrat al-Uqhawan turned into an armed organization after Khorsheed witnessed a ten year old boy be shot in the head by a British sniper, dying in his mother's arms.[2]

Later Life edit

When Jaffa fell in 1948, Khorsheed was one of the thousands of refugees driven to the sea. She fled to Egypt, then Lebanon, then settled in Jordan. She died in Jordan in 2000.[3] She was never able to return to her homeland.
