This cabinet also has the full support of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Barisan Nasional (BN) faction led by Hishamuddin Hussein, and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
History
editThe government came under fire from the public due to the mismanagement, poor governance and power abuse. Austerity policy that was implemented by the government has been putting burdens on the people daily's life. Local Authority has been accused abusing their powers going after political dissents and allegation of kidnappings. Accusation of rape during the raid, mainly targeted identified LGBTQ by human rights advocacy group inflame public anger against the government despite strong influence of social conservative in the country.
Anwar's approval rating is the worst throughout the times. According to Merdeka Centre, only 25% of respondents approved his job with performing worst among Malay/Bumiputera respondents by 10% of approval rating. GPS and GRS have been distanced themselves from the administration and often contradicting Prime Minister's stance such as 20% of oil royalty demand. Feud between Members of Parliament of PH and GPS during several parliament sessions is major signal of fractured relationship between both parties.
On 18 September 2024, Anwar announced intention to resign as prime minister after losing trust from public and coalition partners in the government, 2 days after Hari Malaysia celebration. The resignation will be made once the King appointed new Prime Minister.
On 19 September, King Sultan Ibrahim appointed Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, former Senior Minister and Deputy Chairman of Perikatan Nasional, as the country's eleventh prime minister. After the King was satisfied that Mohd Radzi had won the confidence of the majority in Dewan Rakyat—126 of the 222 MPs had personally come to meet the King to express their support for Mohd Radzi—the appointment was made in accordance with Articles 40(2)(a) and 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
