Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is a more than 50-year-old multi-specialty hospital in Kolkata with over 400 beds.

History

CMRI, established in 1969, is a part of the CK Birla Group, a diversified US $2.8 billion conglomerate. CK Birla Group has over 25,000 employees, 46 manufacturing facilities, and numerous patents and awards. The ten-story building of CMRI was built to capacitate over 400 beds and include 256 slice CT scans, CT simulation, 75+ critical care beds, 20+ bedded respiratory ICU, 9 Modular OTs, 1 MRI(1.5 Tesla) with high intensity focused ultrasound, 300+ ward beds with suite, deluxe, twin sharing and economy options.

Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) and the Joint Commission International (JCI). CMRI is also accredited by the National Development Board, Government of India for DNB courses, and runs an in-house nurses’ training school recognized by the West Bengal Nursing Council. The hospital is also a center for the MRCS exam conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
