Mitsuo Nonami (Born:March 7,1944) is a Japanese musiciologist.

Nonami was born in Okinawa,Japan.When Nonami was a child,his family was poor.He played a harmonica when he was a child,teaching himself music along the way.He slowly become more and more interested in music.He decided that he wanted to become a musician after finishing high school so he would perform Jazz part time.He decided to enter university to further his studies but quit later to pursue in music.

Nonami went on to become a band member in the American Armed Forces station in Japan.Later on,he was offered a job at Yamaha Foundation after he graduated from the Nemono Institute of Music.During his time studying at the Nemono Institute of Music,he studied composition and music theory among others like famous Japanese composer Bin Kaneda.Nonami then started to make compositions for bands himself.

Somewhere during 1974,

Until today,Nonami has lectured trainers from 12 different countries.He also came to Malaysia to give a seminar to teachers from 12 different states.Since then,he has been travelling to Malaysia once or twice a year to teach school bands.
