Milénio Stadium is a weekly Portuguese language newspaper published in Toronto, Ontario by MDC Media Group.
History edit
Milénio Stadium is a 2004 amalgamation of two Toronto newspapers—O Milénio, a Portuguese language newspaper first published in 1998 by Frank Alvarez, and Stadium, a Portuguese sports newspaper first published in 1990 by Alexandre Franco.
The newspaper was purchased by MDC Media Group and redesigned for the September 1, 2017 launch.
Milénio Stadium is known for its weekly cover feature which include in-depth coverage and long-form interviews about current topics like Artificial Intelligence, the Ontario Greenbelt, and the decriminalization of drugs. As well as Portuguese specific topics like World Youth Day 2023, the 70th anniversary of Portuguese immigration to Canada and Portuguese president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's visit to Canada.
On November 24, 2023, Milénio Stadium published a blank newspaper titled Palavras Ausentes (Missing Words), containing only ads (as a thank-you to its supporters) and a page three message to the readers speaking to the bleak future of print media.
