Maytham al-Tammār al-Asadī al-Kūfī (Arabic: ميثم التمار الأسدي الکوفي) (d. 60/680) was a devout and loyal companion of Ali, who Lived in Kufa.

Although there isn't a lot of detailed information available about his life, he is known for being a Humble date-seller in Kufa. In his Life when he was Imprisioned by Ubayd Allah Ibn ZiadHe foretold the death of Mu'awiya, the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali and his own execution and the release of Mukhtar b. Abi 'Ubayd al-Thaqafi[1] from prison.

Maytham al-Tamar was executed by the Ummayad governor; Ubayd Allah Ibn Ziad for being a follower of Ali[2] before the Event of Karblaa.
Prophecy of Demise edit
Once Ali told Maytham that he would be killed and even gave the address of the palm tree he would be hanged on. Months and years passed by, Ali was martyred then Hasan ibn Ali (the Second Shī'a Imām) was martyred and Maytham kept waiting for the time.
