Matthew Kolb (born July 25, 2002) is an American student activist currently serving as the assembly president of the West Virginia United Students' Union and the secretary of the Mountain Party.[1][2][3]

Life

Kolb was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Lisa Kolb (née Cheeks) and Robert Kolb. While attending Brooke High School, he served as drumline captain and field commander of the marching band. He was also treasurer and secretary of the school's Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter. Kolb graduated from Brooke High School in 2020.[4] Today, he is studying mathematics as an undergraduate student at West Virginia University.[5]

Kolb ran for West Virginia House of Delegates as a Democrat in the 2022 primary election, losing to Delegate Evan Hansen.[6]

In 2023, Kolb co-founded the West Virginia United Students' Union at West Virginia University, for which he currently serves as assembly president.[7][8][9][10]
