Maryam Ahranjani is an American law professor and scholar at the University of New Mexico, where she teaches courses in constitutional rights, criminal law and procedure, and education law.[1]
Ahranjani recieved her BSEd degree from Northwestern University, her JD from the American University Washington College of Law, and her LLM from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.
Professor Ahranjani has been an active leader in the American Bar Association (Division for Public Education and Criminal Justice Section), Association of American Law Schools, and Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. She has earned numerous awards and accolades for her leadership, teaching, scholarship, and service.[2]
Professor Ahranjani has worked for the National Association of College and University Attorneys, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, and ABA Rule of Law Initiative. Prior to becoming a faculty member at the University of New Mexico School of Law, she worked as an international legal consultant in Guatemala City, creating and conducting human rights training for Guatemalan government officials. Ahranjani has also served on an assessment team for a youth migration intervention program, and worked to create civic education programs.
She has taught at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid), University of Nevada Boyd School of Law, Universidad del Istmo (Guatemala City), American University Washington College of Law, University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Universidad de Chile.
