Draft:Marginalia Literary Magazine and Press

Marginalia is an independent literary magazine and press. It is run by MFA students, alums, and artists based in New York City. [1]

Marginalia was founded in 2024 by Adwa Aljubair, a Saudi MFA Candidate in Writing at Columbia University, with the mission to recreate the aura of the work of art in the age of digital reproduction, reestablish the personal relationship between artists and publishers, and promote new voices through reading events and craft workshops. [1][2]

Marginalia publishes two magazines, namely, (i) Marginalia: The Review, an annual literary journal (forthcoming, summer 2025), and (ii) New York Diaries, a biannual literary journal (forthcoming, fall/winter 2024). [1]

Marginalia's artists stride the line between seeming opposites, i.e., timeless yet contemporary, composed yet excessive, allusive yet daring, ambivalent yet concrete, savage yet poetic, discursive yet deliberate, meteoric yet paced, withdrawn yet close, all over the place yet curated, revisionist but never derivative, deviant but never merely transgressive.[1]
