Hernán Marcelo Albornoz Serrano (Providencia, May 11, 1967) is a Chilean lawyer and politician, former member of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC).[1][2] He served as Undersecretary of Justice during the second government of Michelle Bachelet between March 2014 and February 2015.[3] He currently practices law at the law firm "Albornoz y Cía, abogados y consultores".

Studies and professional career edit

He studied law at the University of Chile.[3]

He joined the Directorate of Labor (DT) in the early 1990s and became the head of the Legal Department. During the government of President Ricardo Lagos, he was appointed as national director. He held the official position until March 2006 after serving as a substitute following the resignation of María Ester Feres.[4] He was also a full member of the Committee on Freedom of Association of the International Labor Organization (ILO).[5]

During the second government of Michelle Bachelet, on March 11, 2014, he was appointed as Undersecretary of Justice. However, he resigned from his position on February 25, 2015, citing "personal reasons".[5]

Apart from his political career, he has worked as a professor of Human Resources at the School of Administration of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and as a researcher at the Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI).[3]
