Sara Samaniego (Marce La Recicladora)
editSara Samaniego a 28 years old woman who was born on June 2, 1996 in Bogota, Colombia.
She is a social communicator who graduated from the Universidad Javeriana with Icetex program. Taking advantage of the reach that social media has, she decided to open her own YouTube channel and create the character of 'Marce, the recycler', a YouTuber who teaches how to care for the environment through short videos.
Professional life
editShe is the first Colombian and Latin American woman influencer and youtuber, to become in the recycling teacher. Since 2013, she has been working to create greater awareness about the importance of correctly recycling all our waste and garbage.
Before becoming a content creator, Sara Samaniego worked as an audiovisual producer, mainly on music videos with artists and companies. In addition, she also worked as a community manager, a creative job that she now continues with her own agency dedicated to promoting environmental messages.
Awards
editThe One Young World organization awarded her the National Award for Young Talent, allowing her to travel to Munich, Germany, as a representative of Colombia.
Her attitude of service granted her the title of Leader of the Future', a recognition from the global firm Liorente y Cuenca.
She won a recognition in the Youth Assembly in New York for The Best Impact History on 2023.
Impact
editShe goes around of the country teaching the correct disposal of waste, making the recyclers visible and promoting sustainable and responsible habits with the environment, such as reducing plastic use or using recycled products.
She founded in 2020 “Reciclando Amor” a nonprofit foundation that aims to make visible, help and generate actions that impact the population of recyclers in Colombia. With this foundation, she searches improve family, work and personal conditions with different help programs.
In addition of this, ‘Marce la recicladora’ has organized and participated in numerous cleaning events in different locations throughout Colombia. These are some cleaning events that she has organized:
- Beach cleanups: she has realised beach cleanup events in various locations in Colombia, such as Cartagena, Santa Marta, and Barranquilla, where she has convened volunteers to collect trash and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the marine environment.
- Park and public space cleanups: She has also organized cleaning events in parks and public spaces, such as the Simón Bolívar Park in Bogotá, to raise awareness about the importance of keeping common areas clean.
Currently, her influence has had a big impact at the social media and now she has on Instagram 542k and YouTube 70.3k subscribers. Her message has reached many people, but the goal is big. So she won’t stop on her mission of helping the environment and creating valuable content thar encourages more people to help as well
