Mahmood Ali Ayub (born August 12, 1948) is a Pakistani-American author and economist. He worked for the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in several parts of the world, including Latin America, Middle East and Africa. He was also a senior associate at Centennial Group International in Washington DC..
Early life and education
editAyub was born on August 12, 1948, in Alamsher, Pakistan. In 1972, he completed his B.A.(Hons) in economics from Manchester University, England, and later received a PhD. in economics from Yale University, United States, in 1977.
Career
editAyub has served in different capacities at the World Bank and the United Development Program (UNDP) for over 35 years. He worked in development in Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa and Sub Saharan Africa.
He also served as the Resident Representative and Director of the World Bank in Bolivia and Egypt, and Resident Representative of UNDP in Turkey, for a total of ten years.
Ayub also taught economics at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan, He was also the Senior Associate at Centennial Group International, based in Washington DC.
