Draft:Mahaveer Awards

Mahaveer Award is an Indian award, to identify, encourage and honour individuals and institutions doing selfless services for the weak and the voiceless. The Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation instituted the Mahaveer Awards in 1995. The Awards are presented annually in four categories, and usually presented by the President, Vice president, Governor or other eminent persons in formal functions.

Awards edit

The award comprises of a cash component of Rs Ten lakhs each, a citation and a memento. It is given in four categories, namely:

  1. Non-Violence & Vegetarianism
  2. Education
  3. Medicine
  4. Community & Social Service
