Draft:MST Development Corporation

MST Development Corporation is a real estate developer based in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The corporation is a partnership between the Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nation First Nations.[1]

History

edit

The partnership was formed in 2014 following the purchase of 90 acres of property in the West Point Grey neighbourhood of Vancouver. The land was former Crown land that was disposed of by the Canada Lands Company.[1]

The traditional land of the three nations constitute the unceded territory where the City of Vancouver is located.[2] First Nations have the first right of refusal to purchase property in their traditional territories when Crown land is sold or transfered. Rather than competing with each other, the three nations agreed to work together with shared ownership of disposed Crown land.[3]

In 2020, the corporation owned 65 hectares of property throughout the region.[4]

Notable Developments

edit

The Jericho Lands development is a 92 acre parcel located in West Point Grey. The property was previously known as the Jericho Garrison.

The Heather Lands development is co-owned between the three nations and the Canada Lands Company.[5] The 21-acre development is located is South Cambie and was the old headquarters of the British Columbia Royal Canadian Mounted Police.[6]
