Lydia Jett

Intro: Lydia Jett (born 1980) is an American venture capitalist, Managing Partner and Head of Consumer Internet Sector at Softbank Vision Fund.

Early life: Jett was raised in Bend, Oregon and attended Mountain View High School. She attended Smith College and the London School of Economics and Political Science. Later, Jett attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she obtained an MBA.

Career: Following her undergraduate studies, Jett worked as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan in New York. Subsequently, she worked at Goldman Sachs in the Principal Investment Area.

Following graduation from Stanford, Jett invested in growth stage companies in the communications and technology sectors at M/C Partners, before joining Softbank Group International to launch their growth equity efforts in 2015. Jett was a founding member of the Softbank Vision Fund, where she has risen to Managing Partner and Head of the Consumer Internet sector. Jett has led and represented SBIA on the Board of Directors of the firm’s global eCommerce investments including: Coupang (NYSE: CPNG), Fanatics, Flipkart (Sold to Walmart), GoTo (IDX: GoTo), collectively the top returning portfolio for Softbank Vision Fund I. Additionally, Ms. Jett has led investments into and represented SBIA on the Board of Directors of Andela, Block, Embark, Klook, LTK, mmhmm, Papa and Weee!. Prior to launching SBIA, Ms. Jett was a senior member of the investment team at Softbank Group Corporation International (SBGI) where she helped lead SBGI’s investments in Guardant Health (Nasdaq: GH), 10x Genomics (Nasdaq: TXG) and Fetch Robotics (Sold to Zebra).

Ms. Jett served as an Independent Board Member on the Board of Directors of Coupang (NYSE: CPNG), Fanatics and Ozon (Nasdaq: OZON). Additionally, Jett served on the Venture Advisory Board of Silicon Valley Bank. Jett is a member of YPO and is a guest lecturer at The Stanford Graduate School of Business. Jett has been recognized as one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women.

Ms. Jett has been recognized by Forbes as “generating one of the largest cash generating returns ever for a start-up investor,” published work in Fast Company and been recognized as one of Fortune’s “Most Powerful Women,” Judge of Forbes 30 Under 30 Retail & E-Commerce, among other recognitions.

Jett frequently speaks in the media and at investor conferences.
