Lucas John Wee[1][2] 黄育恒 is a 7 year old chess player from Singapore.[3] He is the National Champion for Under-8 in National Age Group Chess Championships 2023.[4]

Lucas John Wee is the youngest member of the National Training Programme[5] for junior chess players in Singapore[1][6] with Singapore Chess Federation.

The 7 year old chess player was the youngest chess player to represent Singapore contingent to compete at Commonwealth Chess Championships organised by the Malaysian Chess Federation and Persatuan Catur Melaka[7]. The championship witnessed intense competition among players from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.[8] Lucas achieved a Bronze Under-8 medal win for Singapore [9][10] and awarded the title of Commonwealth Medallist[11] for chess.

He is the 2024 overall champion for 75th National Schools Individual Chess Championships [12]Under 8, organised by Singapore Chess Federation[5] with a record 9 out of 9 wins[13].

Lucas is the only under-8 Singaporean chess player who has attained a standard FIDE rating[14] as of 1 December 2023. The best recorded ELO stood at 1429 as of 1 March 2024.[15] He has also attained the FIDE of Arena Candidate Master in 2023.[16]

Lucas is a student of Anglo-Chinese School. He is a member of MENSA Singapore since 2019.
