Draft:List of the most valuable football teams

Given that the only list article on Wikipedia ranking the most valuable sports teams is directly quoting the Forbes article[1], it is important to note that, since this list only includes privately owned club teams of any sport. Nowhere in the article does it say so, hence the table in the current page lists the top 10 sports teams in the world including national/international teams. This is because of three reasons:

  • International teams are very much included in the definition of teams, and unless the article says so, must be included in the list.
  • Valuation of the top international teams in the world's two most popular sports, Football (Soccer) and Basketball, are readily available, and can reasonably assumed to be the only kind of teams not including club teams (like casual teams, virtual teams etc.) which are capable of appearing in the top 10 of this list, as publish in the sports news website Transfermarkt[2].
  • The estimated value of these teams are calculated based on dividing up club value for each player and adding them up in the national team.
