Kory Curtis is an American football quarterback for the Gannon Knights of the NCAA. He played high school football at Island Coast High School in Cape Coral, Florida.
Early life
editKory grew up in Cape Coral, Florida. He began playing Pop Warner at age 7. He drew attention because of his ability to pass and kick field goals at such a young age. He won the local NFL Pass, Punt, Kick Contest, eventually competing at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium. He earned second overall. Kory played high school football, baseball, and basketball. According to the OSU bio: Curtis was a four-year letterman and three-year starter who accounted for over 5,400 passing yards and 59 touchdowns for Island Coast. He was also all-conference, all-area and all-region. He was a Mastrole Quarterback Academy Super 7 winner. Curtis was twice voted as his team’s Most Valuable Player. He holds every career and single season passing record in Island Coast High School history which was previously held by NFL QB Kurt Benkert. Curtis led his team to back to back district titles in both 2014 and 2015. He then won the California Super QB combine. Curtis also served as Island Coast’s kicker and punter and was an excellent student, he had the highest grade point average on the football team as both a junior and senior and finished in the top five percent of his graduating class. Curtis a three-sport athlete: baseball, football, and basketball. Curtis also received basketball offers before committing to Ohio State.
High school career
editPlaying at Island Coast, Curtis committed to Ohio State in 2017. Coming out of high school CUrtis was All-Area, All Conference, and held all Island Coast High School passing records previously held by Kurt Benkurt of the NFL. .
College career
editCurtis enrolled at Ohio State University in June 2017 so that he could participate in summer training. Curtis was behind J.T.Barrett and Dwayne Haskins in the depth chart. He was the scout quarterback who was accredited with preparing the team for the 2018 Rose Bowl.
Curtis was the starting quarterback for his two seasons at Bryant University. In a 35-30 loss to Brown, Curtis set a school single-game record with 394 passing yards. He completed 35 of 55 passes with two touchdowns and an interception, also adding 21 rushing yards and a score. Curtis graduated with a degreed in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
Curtis transferred to Gannon University for graduate school where he was able to use his redshirt and COVID years.
