GAJET acronym stands for Good Academic Journal in Ethical Terms.[1]. The list was created on 10th November 2023 in response to a wide request from the academic community for a list of journals that not only do not charge an Article Processing Charge from the authors but also provide free access to the readers. GAJET List was created to fight back against predatory journals and abusive commercial academic publishers where the publishers use free labour from the authors, peer-reviewers, and editors and generate profit from their work in the form of a Subscription or Access fee from the readers or Article Processing Charge or Open Access fee from the authors[2] The list was created because predatory publishers and journals are growing faster than good publishers and journals. The creator found it more helpful to share a list of journals that the researchers can use to submit their papers to them rather than a very long list of journals that they should avoid[3].
