Kimberly Haley-Coleman (born January 18, 1970) is an American globetrotter, empathetic activist, philanthropist, public speaker, guest lecturer, and entrepreneur. She is the founder of Globe Aware, a 501 c (3) nonprofit charity organization, and a for-profit company, The Tickle Bar.[1][4][7][26][27] She also hosts the Globe Aware podcast.[28]
Early life and education
editHaley-Coleman was born in Pensacola, Florida. She attended Hockaday high school and then traveled to Atlanta to attend Emory University, where she completed her bachelor's of Arts and also earned a[1]n M.A. from Southern Methodist University. She also holds a master's in Business Administration (International Business) from The University of Dallas, where she graduated with the highest honors.[1][26]
Career
editHaley-Coleman started her professional career in 1988 as an Associate Program Director at a nonprofit organization Documentary Arts, Inc., working to broaden public knowledge and appreciation of the arts in underprivileged communities. She was responsible for organizing programs, writing and securing grant funding, and several volunteer intern positions at the Dallas Museum of Art and the High Museum of Art. Haley-Coleman joined FCA Corp as an International Business Planning Associate in 1996, where she developed international joint ventures for small to medium-sized companies to help develop the self-sustainability of West African markets. Certified with Series 7, 65, and 63 licenses, she spent two years as Associate Portfolio Manager of the Capstone Japan Fund, where she researched international stocks, made investment decisions, and placed trades. Haley-Coleman served as Director of International Business at Telescan (now InvestTools), where she created strategic international correlations and developed a globalization strategy plan throughout 20 countries to put financial education tools into the hands of millions at no cost to the end user. She also provided her services as an interim Product Manager during the launch of CNBC.com, where she supevised all product development efforts and trained the entire on-air staff. In 2000, Haley-Coleman served as a Director of Business Development at Infotriever and then served as Vice President of International Business Development at Space Services Inc. She was a Chair of Public Awareness at Building Bridges Coalition and a consultant at Britannia Consulting International. She also served as an Executive Chair and Chair Emeritus at International Volunteer Programs Association. Haley-Coleman co-developed and patented Dcipher, an online artificial intelligence engine that creates free, real-time analysis of stocks and portfolios to help those who cannot afford or understand how to pick investments for their future financial stability. Haley-Coleman has been establishing long-term strategic partnerships and projects in the nonprofit and for-profit international arenas.[1]
Haley-Coleman is the founder and executive director of Globe Aware, the developer and host of short-term international volunteer programs in 21 countries around the world to encourage sustainability and cultural awareness. Globe Aware volunteer vacation participants join a group of fellow volunteers and local people in developing countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America and work with locals on different kinds of social projects. Samples of some of the projects she has spearheaded are building libraries and classrooms in Thailand, assembling and giving away free wheelchairs to landmine victims, installing concrete floors in the homes of single moms in Guatemala, removing dilapidated buildings into libraries and learning centers in Mexico, outfitting sensory development centers for those on the autism spectrum in Romania, and more. In 2020, she founded The Tickle Bar during the pandemic to provide jobs and joy to the people by offering unique and exciting affordable luxury, including superlative back tickle and hair play.[1][3][4][7][8][9][10][11][12] Some of the projects completed under the aegis of Globe Aware with Haley-Coleman at the helm include a new library and classrooms for Hill Tribe children in Thailand, community gardens, classrooms in slums of South Africa, assembled wheelchairs for landmine victims in Cambodia, Community Centers in Costa Rica and Mexico, and more.
Haley-Coleman holds two patents, Adaptive Textual System for Associating Descriptive Text with Varying Data, patent number: 6401105, which was granted in 1999.[6][13] She also holds another patent (patent number US 6401105B1). She served on the Alumni Board of the Texas Business Hall of Fame from 2020 to 2023 and received the Texas Business Hall of Fame Scholarship Award in 1995.[5] She also served on the board of Groundwork Dallas, a grassroots effort to sponsor and coordinate community-based environmental improvement projects in economically challenged areas. Haley-Coleman was the President of Dallas' Shore Acres Beautification Club, where she served for seven years, stepping down in August 2013. She also served as the leadership chair for Service Nation, an initiative that strives to increase service & volunteer opportunities for Americans.[1] She serves as the executive chair of the International Volunteer Program Association (IVPA).[2]

Personal life
editKimberly grew up in Lakewood (a neighborhood within Dallas, Texas) and is a fifth-generation resident of Lakewood.[26] She has two daughters. Her mother, Margie Jackson Haley, is an eco-warrior and environmentalist. Haley-Coleman's uncle is Robert Haley, a key researcher, most especially known for his work on the Gulf War Syndrome, and Frederic Forrest is her maternal Aunt Ginger Jackson's brother.
