Kim Vodicka is an American poet, author, and performer originally from Louisiana.[1] She moved to Memphis in 2016[2] and is "the self-proclaimed 'Spokesbitch of a Degeneration.'"[3]

Vodicka's poetry has been described as "full of piss and vinegar and punches up at the powers that be."[4] She is the author of several collections of poetry, including Aesthesia Balderdash (Trembling Pillow Press, 2012),[5] Psychic Privates (White Stag Publishing, 2018),[6] The Elvis Machine (Clash Books, 2020),[7] and Dear Ted (Really Serious Literature, 2022).[8]

As a performer, Vodicka has been characterized as "caustic as Lydia Lunch at her most confrontational, yet sarcastic and squirm-inducing like refined stand-up comedy."[9] She has released several spoken word albums, including the Dear Ted EP, featuring "Ben Ricketts on guitar and synth, to create pop-infused disorienting noir soundscapes."[10]

In October 2020, she performed pieces from The Elvis Machine, accompanied by Ricketts, at Sun Studio in Memphis, becoming the first performer to live-stream a show from Sun Studio.[11]
