Kermit Ray Steinmeier was born in Faribault, Minnesota in 1915 to David William Steinmeier and Louisa Nellie Passer. Both his parents were the children of German immigrants and they grew up as farmers. David recived land from the US Government in 1920 and moved the family to North Dakota to start a Homestead. Kermit had 3 sisters, Beulah, Burnette, and Patricia. Kermit worked as a transportation director in the Second World War and had moved to California sometime before.
