Draft:Kerala Boxing Council

This is the first time in Kerala that a council has been formed at the state level in the field of professional boxing. Kerala Boxing Council is a state unit under Indian Boxing Council. Behind it is a team led by Joy George and Wajid Sait who have been working in the field of kick boxing and various full contact martial arts for more than 10 years. All of them are members of KAKO, a martial arts organization whose main training center is the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium (RSC) in Kochi. Professional Boxing is being introduced in Kerala by a team that has successfully held 10 State Championships and many activities in this field, including the first and last National Kickboxing Championship (RSC Kochi 2015-16) in Kerala. The Origin of Boxing Boxing is said to have originated as part of the Sumerian civilization as a martial art of attacking and counter-attacking from the dawn of human history. This argument is corroborated by Sumerian engravings from the third millennium. From Ethiopia, to Egypt, and from there through Greece to Mesopotamia in the east and Rome in the north, the first form of boxing came and then spread throughout the world. Modern boxing today Centuries changed very quickly and the primitive sport of boxing gave way to modern boxing. Today boxing has become one of the best sports, highest paid and most admired art in the world. many boxers have evolved into generational idols. Boxing's influence can be seen in many of the martial arts popular today. Indian Boxing In the 1920s, India also entered the field of boxing. India also donned the gloves at the 1972 Munich Olympics with Mehab Singh, Munichami Venu and Chander Narayanan in the 1950s and 60s. Boxing in India is mostly managed by the Boxing Federation of India. Today, India is the best country in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Olympics etc. For the first time in the history of Olympics, India won the bronze medal in boxing through Vijender Singh. Indian female boxer Mary Kom walked into history in 2012 women's boxing. Boxing in Kerala and the mission of KBC 1968 Kerala State Boxing Association came into existence with headquarters in Kollam. Boxing has become widespread in Kerala through many competitions, thousands of students and hundreds of training centers. It is true that success in boxing has indirectly permeated the lives of many people through grace marks, university admissions and job prospects. But tens of thousands of sweaty boxers still take off their gloves in desperation. Exceeding the age limit and failing has eliminated their career prospects.

In a state like Kerala where unemployment is most affected, earning an income through his martial arts, which one likes, would be the greatest satisfaction. Kerala Boxing Council gives importance to that. The first mission of the KBC is to bring the youth to a position where his own martial art, which he has been carrying forward for many years, can earn him an income.

How can this mission be possible..? KBC's activities are in a centralised manner where State body will directly organise selection trials for state events where ever district counterparts are not appointed. All sports lovers who go through selection trials will be registered as a professional boxer with a state level ranking based on their individual performance. Roll of the appointed District Council will be to assist State Council in organising various local events. Pay back to such district counterparts will be done in the form of price money or other financial aid to promote its enlisted professional players through various forms of sponsorships. KBC Mission: Empowering Boxers through Progressive Stages The Kerala Boxing Council (KBC) is committed to nurturing and promoting boxing talent through a strategic mission that encompasses various stages, each designed to elevate the sport and provide opportunities for aspiring boxers. The transition from the district level to the state level marks a crucial phase in the KBC mission, characterized by increased facilities, heightened competition, and greater exposure for fighters.

District Level: Fostering Grassroots Talent

At the initial stage, the KBC focuses on grassroots talent identification and development. Local competitions within districts serve as a platform for budding boxers to showcase their skills. The emphasis is on building a strong foundation, instilling discipline, and honing the technical expertise of participants. The prize money, set at a commendable 50,000, serves as motivation and recognition for the district-level champions.

State Level: Elevating Competition and Exposure

As contestants progress to the state level, the competition intensifies, and the KBC enhances its support mechanisms. The infrastructure is upgraded to provide state-of-the-art facilities for training and competitions. The prize money sees a significant increase, now reaching lakhs, incentivizing fighters and elevating the prestige of winning at this stage.

Media Publicity and Sponsorship Opportunities:

The KBC recognizes the power of media in propelling the sport and the careers of its participants. At the state level, media publicity becomes a pivotal tool. Leveraging this exposure, the council actively seeks partnerships with sponsors from various sectors. The involvement of the movie sector, celebrities, news channels, and major sports equipment companies brings in not only financial support but also invaluable expertise and exposure.

Sustainable Financial Opportunities:

With prize money now in the lakhs, fighters at the state level are not only competing for glory but also for substantial financial rewards. This increased financial incentive attracts attention from sponsors, elevating the financial prospects of the boxers. The involvement of celebrities and the movie sector adds a glamorous touch, creating opportunities for endorsements, partnerships, and appearances that can significantly boost a boxer's career.

Setting a Benchmark for Other States:

The success of the KBC mission at the state level becomes a benchmark for other states. As other regions witness the growth and potential of boxing in Kerala, they are likely to adopt a similar model. This creates a ripple effect, fostering the development of boxing at a national level and ensuring that the sport continues to thrive across the country.

In conclusion, the transition from the district to the state level in the KBC mission is a pivotal step in realizing the vision of a vibrant and competitive boxing community in Kerala. Through strategic enhancements in facilities, prize money, and media exposure, the KBC is not only shaping the careers of individual boxers but also setting a precedent for the growth of boxing as a widely celebrated sport in the region.
