The Kathua Ambush took place on July 8, 2024, in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. A convoy of Indian Army soldiers was attacked while patrolling the Kathua-Kindli-Malhar road, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers and injuries to five others. The ambush began when militants threw a grenade at the army truck and followed it up with gunfire[6]

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stressed the need for stricter actions, while Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep grief over the soldiers' deaths[9].
This ambush follows a separate attack on an Army camp in Rajouri district on July 7, 2024, and coincides with increasing violence in Jammu and Kashmir, including recent encounters in Kulgam that left six militants and two soldiers dead[10][11]
