Joan Palmiter Bajorek is an American entrepreneur, linguist, and influencer. She is the founder of Women in Voice, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization for women in voice technology for which she raised over $500k with 20+ chapters. She is the founder & CEO of Clarity AI, an AI and software company, specializing in artificial intelligence, data management, linguistics technology, multimodal, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR). As an influencer, she has received awards including 2019 Top 11 Influencer in Voice by Voicebot.ai, and a 2020 Alexa Champion. She hosts the Your AI Roadmap podcast, featuring AI experts who work at Adobe, Google, Intuit, Microsoft, and more.
Early life and education
editBajorek grew up in Portland, Oregon, and graduated with a BFA in Photomedia and a BA in French from the University of Washington in 2013, an MA in Linguistics from the University of California, Davis in 2016, and a PhD from the University of Arizona in Speech-Language Technology and currently lives in Seattle, WA.
In 2019, she completed her Ph.D. Her dissertation title is entitled “Speaking of Language Technology".
Career
editShe was previously the VP of Data & Analytics of OneReach.ai, Head of Conversational Research and Strategy at VERSA Agency, Principal Investigator at the University of Arizona, Senior Conversational Designer at Nuance, and an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) at WeWork Labs. As a public speaker, she has spoken at CES, Voice Summit, Humans of AI, and VentureBeat. Joan is also an investor and advisor to CleanAI, startups (AI, computer vision, NLP), and enterprises.
Her work is featured in publications including Harvard Business Review, Adobe XD, Cambridge University Press, and UXmatters, as well as at Google i/O.
