H2 Jets X-Factor

edit

Jets X-Factor (Jet X) is a credentialed media publication covering the New York Jets of the National Football League. It was co-founded in 2020 by credentialed analyst Robby Sabo and the analytically-driven Michael Nania, and is owned under the LLC partnership of the same Jets X-Factor name.

Jets X-Factor produces daily written, visual and audio content that aims to serve each type of Jets fan. It is the most-read independent New York Jets-centric platform in the world, and is oftentimes the most-read Jets-centric content platform on the web.

Branded as a premium site that cultivates the highest-quality film review and analytical content on the market for diehard fans, Jet X also makes it its mission to appeal to the masses. This intentional mindset breeds community in a fashion for which each type of fan feels welcomed, informed and entertained.

Although not affiliated with the Jets organization, Jets X-Factor's professional relationship with the franchise allows for unbiased, objective and fair reporting, headlined by in-depth pro football knowledge and colorful personality.

In addition to Sabo and Nania, New York Jets legend Wayne Chrebet is a proud team member. The former Jets wide receiver is one-half of "The Underdog Jets Podcast".[1] (with Sabo) under the Jets X-Factor podcast network umbrella. Other key staff members are film expert Joe Blewett and editor Rivka Boord.

Beyond the https://jetsxfactor.com/ domain, the highly-cited platform features a mobile application on the iOS Apple App Store and Android Google Play, titled Jet X Mobile. Jet X also boasts a popular YouTube channel, X (formerly Twitter) account and Facebook page.

In terms of non-published content, the Jet X Offseason Simulator provides fans a chance to be the general manager each offseason. Website members have the ability to take the reins towards making every offseason move (trades, salary cuts, free agency, mock draft simulator, etc.).

History

edit

Founded in March 2020, Jets X-Factor launched prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally envisioned as a full membership platform, Jet X pivoted to provide free content to fans, courtesy of the hardship the pandemic brought fans. Thus only a specific percentage of all content was placed behind the membership paywall.

The hybrid membership strategy continues to this day. Although the majority of Jets X-Factor's content is free to the public, Jet X members receive the most in-depth content (film breakdowns, analytics, behind-the-scenes access), an ad-free website experience, and an audio version of each article, among other perks.

Robby Sabo, the sole founder and creator of Elite Sports NY (ESNY) in 2015, sought to establish a New York Jets-centric platform in early 2020. This came on the heels of his sale of ESNY in early 2020[2]

Sabo partnered with Michael Nania, who previously wrote for ESNY and a handful of Jets-specific platforms such as SB Nation's Gang Green Nation. Together, they co-founded Jets X-Factor LLC, with Sabo leading the development charge and Nania controlling the editorial side of the coin.

Sabo, who is a Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) member, remains the lead credentialed analyst and reporter for Jets X-Factor. He frequently covers the New York Jets from a first-person perspective (training camp in Florham Park, NJ, in-season practices, press conferences and media availability, and nearly every game).

Notable Stories and Media Mentions

edit

Just prior to the 2020 NFL season, the "New York Daily News"[3] published a feature on Jets X-Factor and co-founder Michael Nania, with quotes from co-founder Robby Sabo.

During the 2020 season, Jets X-Factor's Michael Nania published a mini-series of features that helped guide New York Jets fans during one of the most depressing times in franchise history.

Led by the likes of head coach Adam Gase and quarterback Sam Darnold, the Jets started 0-13 in 2020, leading to rampant speculation that the organization would earn the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft (the right to select Clemson's Trevor Lawrence). Jet X published an article titled, "Trevor Lawrence race: Rooting guide for New York Jets’ strength of schedule tiebreaker," which kickstarted the series of content (written stories, graphics, etc.), helping fans sort out the tanking race en route to Lawrence.

WFAN's Evan Roberts and Craig Carton of the "Carton & Roberts" show repeatedly [4]cited the article[5] and subsequent published details[6] on numerous occasions that season. Roberts and other WFAN hosts have frequently cited Jet X information in the four-plus years of its existence. One such instance happened in the 2022 season after Breece Hall and Alijah Vera-Tucker were both lost for the season via injury during a road game against the Denver Broncos.

"Get ready for this stat; this is amazing," Roberts proclaimed live on the "Carton & Roberts" show during the 2020 New York Jets season. " ... When Breece (Hall) and AVT (Alijah Vera-Tucker) are on the field, the Jets run game averaged 5.59 yards per carry. All other plays, 3.85 (yards per carry). That number, 5.59, would have led the NFL."

Jets X-Factor co-founder Robby Sabo appeared on WFAN[7] with Peter Schwartz in May 2023. Moreover, Sabo has appeared on numerous NFL and/or Jets-centric shows/spots which include NBC New York's[8] "Sports Final" with Bruce Beck, ESPN 960[9] with host Ben Criddle, Audacy's live 2023 NFL draft show [10]with hosts Brian Baldinger and Jason La Canfora, and a weekly spot with the most popular Jets-specific YouTube show in the world, "The Jake Asman Show,"[11] hosted by radio professional Jake Asman.

Jets X-Factor has also been mentioned by the New York Jets organization in its long-running "Flight" series. Michael Nania's words[12] were used via voiceover in a close-up of head coach Robert Saleh, while NFL Network's Rich Eisen narrated the spot designed to provide fans with hope for the 2023 season.

"This is what's going to dictate, if this era's going to be successful, because if you do nail it, it can be the start of something very positive and very successful, for a very long time," Nania said on the "Cool Your Jets Podcast" with Ben Blessington, when discussing the Jets offseason plans.

Another Jets X-Factor contributor, widely known as NYJ Matt on X (formerly Twitter), has also appeared and/or been mentioned on the New York Jets in-house documentary series on multiple occasions. The most recent and publicly known instance led to one of the most popular offseason storylines of 2024.

After sending a taylor ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich[13] to Jets headquarters in Florham Park, NJ, for Mike Williams's free agent visit, the story became a national sensation. The likes of the Daily Mail[14], New York Post, ESPN[15], USA Today[16] and others picked up the story.

Notable Names

edit

Throughout its four-plus years of existence, Jets X-Factor has featured a plethora of notable names either through its written coverage, video/audio coverage, or as an interview subject.

Former New York Jets wide receiver and Ring of Honor inductee Wayne Chrebet is a part of the Jets X-Factor team. He's one-half of "The Underdog Jets Podcast" with Robby Sabo, and he's also written for the publication. Chrebet, whose familiar No. 80 is still featured prominently on Jets game days at MetLife Stadium, is arguably the most popular New York Jets legend alive today (save for Joe Namath).

Former Jets cornerback Marcus Coleman has appeared as a guest co-host[17] on Jets X-Factor's film show "Blewett's Blitz," hosted by Joe Blewett.

Connie Carberg, a former New York Jets scout and the first notable female scout in NFL history, was subject of a Robby Sabo interview[18] in July of 2020.

Other notable names appearing on shows and/or in written content include former Jets players John Franklin-Myers, Bryce Huff, George Fant, Tim Boyle and Trey Dean. Current Jets such as punter Thomas Morstead and long-snapper Thomas Hennessy have also appeared on a Jets X-Factor show.
