Jess Ribeiro is a singer and songwriter from Melbourne, Australia known for her folk blues and indie rock music.
She formed the band Jess Ribeiro and the Bone Collectors in Darwin in 2009. Their self-named album was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize in 2012 and won Best Country Album at the 2012 AIR (Australian Independent Record) Awards[1] and was awarded ABC Radio National Album of the Year. [2]
After moving to Melbourne in 2012, she recorded her debut album Kill it Yourself as a solo artist. This was produced by musician–producer Mick Harvey, and the single Kill It Yourself was shortlisted for the 2015 Australian Music Prize.
She released her second album LOVEHATE in 2019. It featured the song In Love With This Place, which was shortlisted for the Environmental Music Prize in the same year.[3]
Her 2024 album, Summer of Love, featured drummer Jim White from the Dirty Three, bassist James Seymour and keyboardist Leah Senior. It was described by the Guardian as "a record of our anxious times, with a dash of optimism for a better future".[4]
