Submission declined on 5 December 2023 by Cabrils (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

How to improve a draft
You can also browse Wikipedia:Featured articles and Wikipedia:Good articles to find examples of Wikipedia's best writing on topics similar to your proposed article. Improving your odds of a speedy review To improve your odds of a faster review, tag your draft with relevant WikiProject tags using the button below. This will let reviewers know a new draft has been submitted in their area of interest. For instance, if you wrote about a female astronomer, you would want to add the Biography, Astronomy, and Women scientists tags. Editor resources

- Comment: There's a source for Jolley available via Project Muse: Kate Storhoff (2021). Not Yet "Bridging the Gender Gap": Women's Experiences in Composing for the Twenty-First-Century Wind Ensemble. American Music 39 (1): 41–65 [1] Espresso Addict (talk) 03:53, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, WP:MUSICBIO) but presently it is not clear that it does. As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’. Please note that many of the references are not formatted correctly (see Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor and Wikipedia’s Manual of Style for help). Additionally, the draft tends to read too much like a CV, which Wikipedia is not. Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link). Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject. You may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 02:19, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
About edit
Jennifer Jolley (she/her) is an American classical concert music composer and creative opera producer born in 1981. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, a Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the same institution.[1] She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Lehman College and as a member of the Executive Council of the Institute for Composer Diversity and the New Music USA Program Council. Through writings for publications such as NewMusicBox and I CARE IF YOU LISTEN, she promotes composer advocacy.[2]
Activism edit
Jolley believes that music is political and believes that her music should address political issues. Socio-political themes of interest include climate change, #MeToo, feminist history, and the abuses of the Putin regime.[3] She has been particularly vocal regarding her discontent with the current Russian government, composing pieces that showcase this such as Prisoner of Conscience.[4] Jolley wrote an article in NewMusicUSA titled All the Rage: When Is Music a Political Action in which she expresses her personal take on how music can influence the opinions of future generations. In her piece, The Eyes of the World are Upon You, commissioned by the University of Texas ensemble, she addresses the Texas state government’s decision to allow guns on college campuses on the 50th anniversary of the UT Tower shooting.[5] Through her own works and the education of her students, she continues to engage in advocacy and activism efforts.
