Career

iCrossing
edit

Herzog founded iCrossing in 1998,[5] serving as its CEO. iCrossing held 12 domestic and international offices, and in 2010 completed over $120M in U.S. annual revenue.[6] The company was sold to Hearst Magazines in 2010 for approximately $450 million.[7] Hearst Corp.'s acquisition of iCrossing was the publisher's first entry into the marketing services business.[8]

Over a 10 year span, iCrossing acquired and integrated five domestic and international companies including Proxicom[9] (Virginia), NewGate Internet[10] (San Francisco), Sharp Analytics[11] (Salt Lake City), Spannerworks[12] (UK), and 3GNet[13] (Munich). iCrossing raised $125M in funding from individual and institutional investors including Goldman Sachs, Oak Investment Partners, and others.[14]

By 2010, iCrossing, was described as one of the "largest remaining independent businesses that specialize in advising marketers on buying Web-search keywords, crafting their websites, and tracking what people are saying about their brands online."[15]

ZOG Digital / Investis Digital
edit

Following Hearst Corp.'s acquisition of iCrossing, Herzog established ZOG Digital in 2011,[16] a digital marketing and technology company focused on digital and content marketing strategies. In 2016, ZOG Digital was named one of Forrester's 10 Search Marketing Agency Providers That Matter Most.[17] The company was acquired by London-based Investis Digital in 2018[16] for an undisclosed sum. Upon announcing the acquisition, the company claimed it will "further enhance the corporate communications services provided by Investis."[16] After the acquisition, Herzog took on the role of Senior Advisor to the former Chief Executive Officer, Don Scales and resident futurist, consulting to identify growth opportunities for the company.[16] Investis Digital was ultimately sold to Investcorp, a global manager of alternative investment products, in April 2021 for $225M.[4]

Avenue Z
edit

Today, Herzog is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Avenue Z,[18] a media and technology company with offices in Miami, Orlando, and New York.[19]

Founded in June 2023,[7] Avenue Z is backed by Baleon Capital, a private equity fund focused on B2B tech-enabled services.[20][21]

During its first four months of operations, the company acquired and integrated three media, public relations and technology companies. Those companies include The Snow Agency[22][23] (Miami), Bevel PR,[24] (Miami and New York),[25] and DesignZillas[26][23] (Orlando). In a report from PR Week, after merging together three different agencies, Herzog stressed his venture is focused on the convergence of media, creative, analytics and technology.[27]

Herzog was named one of Phoenix Business Journal's Tech Titan's of 2013[28] and one of Best Startups' 101 Top CEOs in the Social Media Marketing Space in 2022.[29]
