The Jam Petrochemical Company, (Persian: شرکت پتروشیمی جم) abbreviated as JPC, is one of the largest olefin production units in the world. It is one of the development projects of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran, established in 2000 in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh. It was mainly established for the production of olefins, low-density polyethylene, and high-density polyethylene.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] The company has been sanctioned by the US government.[9][10][11][12]

Location

edit

The Jam Petrochemical Company is located on an area of approximately 77 hectares in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone. 41 hectares of this 77-hectare land was obtained through drying up part of the sea. As part of Iran's Third Economic Development Plan, the Jam Petrochemical Company was considered one of the petrochemical projects to economically exploit the South Pars Gas Field. Known as the tenth olefin project, it is one of the largest and most important petrochemical projects in the region, located adjacent to gas and petrochemical phases on the map. Easy access to feedstock, fuel, and raw materials, use of road and maritime transportation facilities, the existence of an airport, access to required water, as well as contributing to the development and prosperity of Bushehr Province as a petrochemical hub in the country, and also creating added value and preventing the burning of associated petroleum gases, are features that have made this location prominent for the construction of petrochemical complexes and have turned it into one of Iran's non-oil export hubs.[13]

Social responsibility

edit

The educational support plan with a social investment approach for students, university students, and scientific elites in the Assaluyeh region who do not have the minimum financial means for progress and scientific advancement has been adopted by the Jam Petrochemical Company's Social Responsibility Committee.[14][15]
