Inbar Solomon (born in 1983) is a Recorder player, performing Early and Contemporary music. She is the winner of the Culture Minister Partos lifetime Award for music performers, and was the first Recorder player winning this award.

Early life

Solomon was born in Rehovot, Israel, to Anca Ditroi, a Psychologist and Thomas Ditroi, a sculptor and a painter. Her grandfather, Dr. Erwin Ditroi, was the founder of the Arts Museum in Cluj, Romania.

She studied a B.A. in Music and Psychology and an M.A in Musicology at the Tel-Aviv university and an M.A in Music at the Nuremberg Music Academy.

Career

Solomon has been performing in concert series and festivals in Israel and Europe, as soloist with orchestras, as guest musician in orchestras and ensembles, and in TV and radio programs, since 2009.

Since 2018, she was the director, producer and player of seven albums, among them “Modern Roots” (with the support of The Ministry of Culture), “From Johann to Hans”, “Chamber Sound 2” (produced by Karev foundation for education) and “Una Folia Antiqua-Nuova”, released by the American prestigious label “Centaur Records” (with the support of Rabinovich foundation for the Arts and The Pais Council for Arts and Culture).


Working with composers

Solomon works with composers from Israel, US, Japan, UK and Argentina, and in the past decades, she has been performing well over dozens of pieces dedicated to her. Her performances won their composers awards such as The Prime Minister Award for Composers and the ACUM Prize and won grant from the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts. She was the head of the Israeli Women Composers and Performers’ Forum for two years, between 2015-2017.

Solomon works with composers from Israel, US, Japan, UK and Argentina, and in the past decade she premiered in concerts and recordings more than thirty solo and chamber pieces dedicated to her. Pieces performed by her have won awards such as The Prime Minister Award for Composers and the ACUM Prize and won grant from the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts. She was the head of the Israeli Women Composers and Performers’ Forum for two years, between 2015-2017.

2022: “A Tune for the Afternoon”- in memory of her father, Thomas Ditroi. The album is a compilation of pieces and songs he loved.

2023: “Musical Delights”- with Soprano Sivan Rotem and the Guitar player Oded Shoub. Spanish music, South American and Ladino arranged by Shoub.

2023: “27 Hebrew melodies”- Hassidic songs, songs in Yiddish, Jewish holiday songs and old Israeli songs arranged for Recorder duo by Hans Lewitus.

Awards and scholarships

Solomon has won of the Culture Minister Partos lifetime Award for music performers, for her performance of the piece “Ra’ad” for solo Bass recorder, dedicated to her by Hila Tamir-Ostrover. She won the second prize at the Contemporary Music Competition, The Buchmann-Mehta Music School. She has received scholarships from the Bnei Brith organization, the AICF and The Koehler-Kast foundation. She received grants for various projects and ensembles from The Israel Ministry of Culture, The Pais Council for the Culture and Arts and from the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts.
