Idli Kadai (transl. Idli shop) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language drama film written, co-produced and directed by Dhanush in his fourth directorial venture, and produced by Dawn Pictures and Wunderbar Films.The film stars Dhanush.
The film was officially announced in September 2024 under the tentative titles D52 and DD4, as it is Dhanush's 52nd and fourth film as a lead actor and director respectively, and the official title was announced a few days later. The film has music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography handled by Kiran Koushik and editing by Prasanna GK.
Idli Kadai is scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide on 10 April 2025.[1]

editOn 17 September 2024, the newly-established production house Dawn Pictures, headed by Aakash Baskaran, officially announced through their social media pages that their maiden production project.[2] Tentatively titled D52 and DD4, it would be directed and starred by Dhanush, in his fourth directorial venture.[3][4] Dhanush would also co-produce the project under Wunderbar Films. The film's official title, Idli Kadai, was announced on 19 September 2024.[5] The technical crew includes composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, editor Prasanna GK, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, production designer Jacki, costume designer Kavya Sriram and choreographer Baba Bhaskar.[6][7]
Casting
editNithya Menon cast in as the female lead opposite Dhanush, marking their second collaboration after Thiruchitrambalam (2022).Arun Vijay and Ashok Selvan was reported to play an important role in this film while veteran actor Rajkiran and Sathyaraj was reported to play a prominent role in this film.[8]
Filming
editPrincipal photography commenced with the first schedule on 16 September 2024 at the villages of Theni district in Tamil Nadu.[9]
Music
editThe music and background score is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, in his ninth collaboration with Dhanush after Polladhavan (2007), Aadukalam (2011), Mayakkam Enna (2011), Asuran (2019), Maaran (2022), Vaathi (2023), Captain Miller (2024) and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (2024).[5]
