Ibayo Tipas is one of the 28 barangays of Taguig, Metro Manila in the Philippines. Through Municipal Resolution number 51 of the Municipal Council of Taguig on July 15, 1971, the old Nayon of Tipas was divided into 4 Barrios namely Calzada Tipas, Palingon Tipas, Ligid Tipas, and Ibayo Tipas.[1] It was ratified by Presidential Decree number 557 on September 20, 1974.[2]
The word "Ibayo" mean "Further". In the Tagalog dialect it usually means the other side. Ibayo Tipas is bounded by the Tipas-Santa Ana River. Here you will find the factories who made and invented the famous TIPAS HOPIA.
It was reported by Sir John Bowring, an English Diplomat (1792-1872) in his book "A Visit to the Philippine Island" that the Mabato Creek in Ibayo Tipas is a natural thermal bath.He visited Taguig in the year1859, where he said that Taguig during that time has a population of 4,000.[3]
