I, Chihuahua is a cancelled American animated film that was set to be directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez from a script he co-wrote with Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale. The film stars Gabriel Iglesias as Chacho, a chihuahua who becomes a luchador.

The film was being produced for Netflix, but in April 2024, the film was cancelled due to creative differences at Netflix Animation.

Premise

Chacho is a chihuahua who becomes "Luchacho" when putting on a Lucha Libre mask after discovering his home is in danger. Luchacho enters a fight tournament against other animal fighters around the world to save his home.

I, Chihuahua was first announced in March 2022 as a film from Netflix Animation with Jorge R. Gutierrez set to direct a script he co-wrote with Doug Langdale and Candie Kelty Langdale. Gabriel Iglesias and Tim Yoon were producing the film for Iglesias to star in.[1]

Cancellation

In April 2024, the film was cancelled due to creative differences at Netflix Animation.[2][3]
