Hiroaki Ureshino (Japanese: 嬉野 宏明) is an amateur shogi player known for inventing the Ureshino opening (嬉野流 ureshino-ryū). After former 3-dan shōreikai member Takamoto Amano added his own research to the strategy and published it as a book, the Ureshino opening quickly gained fame among shogi fans.[1][2] He was the recipient of the Kōzō Masuda Award (升田幸三賞 Masuda Kōzō shō) by the Japan Shogi Association at the 50th Annual Shogi Awards, an acknowledgement to his outstanding contribution to the development of shogi openings.[3]
