Hero of the Socialist Labour (People's Republic of Bulgaria) edit

The Hero of Socialist Labor medal (Bulgarian: Герой на социалистическият труд) was an honorific title awarded to citizens of the Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact countries from 1938 to 1991 for exceptional achievements in industry, culture, agriculture, transportation, trade, science, and technology. The medal was also awarded to those who served as exemplary models of the Soviet worker.

It represented the highest degree of distinction in the eastern block and was awarded for exceptional achievements in industry and culture.

It provided a similar status to the title Hero of the People that was awarded for heroic deeds, but unlike the latter, was awarded to citizens who contributed to the development of Bulgaria's industry, agriculture, transportation, trade, science and technology and promoted the might and the glory of Bulgaria.

Only the Bulgarian Parliament could deprive a person of this title.
