History edit

Origins edit

Helltrench was created on the fifth of March 2023, under the name of HellCirkus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The city of Rio de Janeiro, where the band was created

by Nikolai and Laureana Trinchero with Nikolai on vocals and Laureana on Drums, eventually Nikolai would also take on duties as the guitarst of the band. Later on bassist Zeca Mattos, would briefly join the band however would leave on a mutual agreement with the band. After his departure Keyboardist/Backing vocalist Rafael Miranda who was a friend of Nikolai’s joined the band on May 2023, staying with those two roles until April 2024 being disposed of keyboard duties as the band felt it no longer fit the band’s sound, eventually taking an absence from Helltrench, however he would return on the fifth of May 2024, after talks with the band and deciding to remain a part of it. Helltrench was originally called HellCirkus but changed it’s name due to it sounding too similar to another band’s name, it was then renamed to Forest of Hell due to Rio’s nature and violence, however the name was not one word and thus not preffered by all and eventually the band settled for the name Helltrench. That name came up on the spot by Vocalist/Guitarist Nikolai Trinchero.

HellCirkus (Early days) edit

The first ever Helltrench album, would never come to be. It beared the original name for the band and had a completely different sound than Helltrench has today. The band was largely inactive during this period. A couple songs were written, many of which would not end up in Freedom is Slavery.

Isolation and inactivity (2023-2023) edit

The single Isolation was where the band was reinvented and was the first song to be fully written, it went through several variations with the first being very different from the last version. It featured Nikolai and Laureana Trinchero. It had no bass however it would be a step forward for the band, eventually leading it’s style to being what it is today. After Isolation the band went inactive, while not on a hiatus everything would be stalled.

Freedom is Slavery, War and resurgence (2023-present) edit

Album cover for “Freedom is Slavery”

Freedom is Slavery is Helltrench’s first full length album, it features both original members with the addition of Keyboardist/Backing vocalist Rafael Miranda. The album focuses on experiences by the lead song writer Nikolai and overall on the image of society as viewed on by the band, and war. The band would go inactive, however they would return in May 2024, by recording War which according to Vocalist/Guitarist Nikolai is his favorite song on the album. After the recording of that song, the band started recording the full album. Many song lyrics would be written during the inactive period, however most songs would be rewritten, meaning that the lyrics would change a bit, one example would be Isolation. There are however, many songs that were written after "War" such as "Cost" and "Burn". The title track "Freedom is Slavery" was originally written in 2023, however it was never finalized, for the full recording of the album the song was completely re-written to match the atmosphere that the band was now going for and to overall improve on its previous rendition.
