The Hatohobei State Legislature is the unicameral legislature of Hatohobei, one of Palau's sixteen states. The legislature is composed of twelve members, of which nine are elected at-large. The remaining three seats are held ex officio by Hatohobei's three traditional chiefs.[1][2] Elected members serve for four-year terms.[3]

The legislature is granted significant authority from the state constitution, including the power to impeach the state governor and lieutenant governor. The legislature can also override the governor's veto. Additionally, the legislature has a harmful substance (anti-nuclear) clause.[1]

In addition to serving in the legislature, the three chiefs also constitute the extra-legislative Traditional Leaders Council. The council serves as an advisory body to the state government in matters of traditional laws and customs.[1][3]
