Gnosis builds decentralized infrastructure for the Ethereum ecosystem. Founded in 2015 by Martin Koppelmann, Stefan George, and Friederike Ernst after joining ConsenSys. In 2017, Gnosis raised capital and spun out of ConsenSys to grow as an independent company.[1]

Today the Gnosis ecosystem has grown into four interoperable product lines that allow users to securely create, trade, govern, hold, and stake on Ethereum. The ecosystem is governed through GnosisDAO, with voting power distributed amongst its token holders. A decentralized autonomous organization or DAO, is an organization that is run through rules encoded as computer programs called smart contracts.[2]

Safe is a decentralized custody protocol for managing digital assets.[3] CoW Protocol ensures the best outcome for traders through batch orders, Coincidences of Wants (CoWs) and by monitoring all onchain liquidity providers.[4] Gnosis Chain is an EVM-based Layer 1 utilizing PoS consensus. Gnosis Chain utilizes a dual token model unlike similar EVM chains. On Gnosis Chain GNO token is used to secure the consensus layer while xDai is used as the gas token.[5] Zodiac is a set of composable DAO tools that integrate directly with the Safe interface. Developers can build their own Zodiac modules to enhance existing practices in the DAO ecosystem and help shape its future development. Circles UBI is a Gnosis-incubated blockchain-based Universal Basic Income (UBI) project.[6]

Gnosis Pay, the most recent product offering, is a decentralized payment network allowing web3 developers to integrate with a range of traditional payment schemes including Visa.[7] The Gnosis Card is a Visa-certified self-custodied consumer debit card directly connected to an onchain wallet instead of a traditional bank account, built on the Gnosis Pay decentralized payment network.[8]
