Overview
editGInI is an awarding body specializing in applied business innovation. It certifies over 15,000 innovators across 50 countries and operates with approximately 150 authorized providers in 32 countries[4]. The institute offers certifications and accreditations to individuals and organizations, aiming to advance innovation practices[5][6]. GInI has accredited over 500 businesses and maintains a membership of about 7,000 individuals.[4]
History
editFounded in 2010 in Michigan, GInI was established to fill the gap in professional certification for business innovation[7], an area previously dominated by academic programs. The institute introduced the first third-party assessment-based innovation maturity accreditation standard and developed a global network of Authorized Providers to conduct these assessments. In 2015, GInI was officially chartered following extensive research into global innovation practices. The organization launched its certification programs in 2016 and published the "Applied Innovation Master Book" in 2017. GInI has expanded its global network, particularly in the Middle East, and translated its materials into Arabic[8]. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the focus shifted to individual certifications for personal development. GInI plans to host its inaugural summit and the Global Distinguished Innovator (GDI) Awards in December 2024.
