Gaurav made his debut with 6-5=2 (2014 film). This film is hindi remake of Kannada film, it has a real life connect, too. The film, which has been shot in found footage format, narrates producer-director Bharat Jain's personal experience as a trekker.[3][4] Later, he acted in suspense thriller Gujarati hit movie Je Pan Kahish E Sachuj Kahish (2016). The movie is directed by Naitik Raval.[5] In 2017 he appeared in film Wassup Zindagi. It is a story of four friends and their tryst with martial relationship and their ultimate realization that family is above everything else. It's a comedy film that gives a social message for today's generation.[6]

His next project was Anupam Kher starrer Hotel Mumbai (2018). The film is directed by Anthony Maras. It's a true story of Taj Hotel terrorist attack in Mumbai. Hotel staff risk their lives to keep everyone safe as people make unthinkable sacrifices to protect themselves and families.[7] In 2019 he acted in film Order Order Out of Order alongside Jinal Belani and Raunaq Kamdar. The film story is about two brothers who are fighting their inner demons. After training as lawyers, they decide to follow the path of truth and honesty. In film Paswala played the character of Raj Thakkar and film is directed Dhwani Gautam.[8] In same year he acted in Natik Raval's film 47 Dhansukh Bhawan. In film four young man visit an old house with the intention of selling it along with all its furniture. Soon, however, they find strange things happening in the house. In this film Gaurav Paswala played the character of Dhaval.[9] He won the GIFA Best actor award (critics choice) in 2019 for 47 Dhansukh Bhawan.[10]

In 2022, he starred as lead in Gujarati musical love story named Prem Prakaran opposite of Esha Kansara and Deeksha Joshi. He played the character of small town guy, Adi who becomes the ro rockstar of Gujarat.[11]
