History

editThe original building was constructed in the 1960s.[3] In 2020, the school underwent building renovation, as part of a wider county rebuilding program with Davis Kane Architects.[4][5] The new building was opened in 2022 with a ribbon cutting, coinciding with the schools 60th anniversary.[6]
The renovation included an initial budget of $34,180,783, However, The project was finished at $31,009,648, being funded entirely by community approved capital improvement bonds.[7]
Merits
editIn 2024, the school got awarded the Magnet Schools of America School of Excellence merit award[8]. An award that according to Magnet Schools of America, is only given to select schools.[9] The school was also recognized as a nationally certified school.[10]
