Francesco D'Alconzo (Campomaggiore - Italy, 13 September 1960) is an italian painter and sculptor.
Biography
editFrancesco D’Alconzo was born in Campomaggiore (Potenza) on September 13, 1960, and later moved with his family to Oggiono (Lecco).
In the mid-1990s he moved to Heidelberg, Germany, where he began his artistic production.
In July 2008 he presented his first solo exhibition in Milan, Francesco D'Alconzo, at the Artouverture Gallery.
In 2009 he participated in the 53rd edition of the Venice Art Biennale[1] in the National Pavilion of the Republic of Costa Rica, curator Gregorio Rossi, set up at Ca' Foscari University.
In 2011 he participated in the first edition of Symphonie de Couleurs, set up at Palazzo Pesaro Papafava (Venice).
In 2013 he exhibited at Palazzo Merati (Venice) in the international exhibition Tra astratto e figurativo - alla scoperta dell’arte del terzo millennio.
In 2014 he was chosen by art critic and historian Gregorio Rossi for the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Italian Contemporary Art in America (MACIA)[2], where contemporary Italian art is represented abroad.
In 2015 at Palazzo Bollani (Venice), he presented his works at “Il Grande Canale della Pace – artisti contro la guerra”, an international exhibition with the participation of Nobel laureates Hermann Hesse (represented by Eva Hesse) and Dario Fo.
In 2016 in Rome, at the Museal Complex of Villa Panfili (Villino Corsini), Francesco D'Alconzo returned to exhibit at the second edition of Il Grande Canale della Pace - artisti contro la guerra.
In August 2019, the expert magazine Art&trA International publishes Francesco D'Alconzo's Manifesto of Art. In September and October of the same year he is a guest at Palazzo Merati (Venice), for the third edition of the exhibition Symphonie de Couleurs: on this occasion, Francesco D'Alconzo's Art Manifesto is officially presented.
A few months later, one of his works is chosen for a preview-event of the Amedeo Modigliani Centenary, held at Palazzo Merati (Venice), on that occasion a museum of Giacomo Casanova.
In 2022 he moved back to Italy (Oggiono) where he resides and continues his artistic work. In the same year comes the updated and expanded reprint of the volume Natura e Sogni[3] (Palombi Editori), devoted entirely to D'Alconzo's participation in the 53rd Edition of the Venice Art Biennale.
The Manifesto
editThe publication of Francesco D'Alconzo's Manifesto[4] contains the author's artistic philosophy. Symbol of the Dalconzian stylema is the metal hinge, understood as closure/opening to the inner world. However, it is not a commonly understood "zipper," but this accessory deprived of its cursor, where the cursor is the observer himself who becomes the active conduit toward his introspection.

The spiritual hinge lacks its slider because it is the artist himself who is the slider that opens and closes the door to the unconscious. Because of this characteristic, in March 2020 a work by D'Alconzo was offered at the Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and in May 2024 at the MAXXI museum in Rome.

editSince 2000, D'Alconzo has also devoted himself to sacred art, and some of his works are now exhibited in various Christian places of worship in Europe.

- St. Pio - Sanctuary of St. Pio of Pietrelcina (FG - Italy);
- Resurrection - Mission of the Italian Catholic community in Mannheim (Germany);
- Antonio, il buon profumo di Cristo - Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua (Italy);
- Trinity (the only copy of the original present in Lourdes), Pope John XXIII and St. Joseph Moscati - M. SS. del Carmelo Church in Campomaggiore (PZ - Italy).
