Filip Borelli (Zagreb, 1984.) is a Croatian new media and multimedia artist and performer.[1][2]

Biography

Born in Zagreb. Descendant of a Croatian noble family from Zadar called Borelli Vranski.[3][4] After high school and The University of Economics, he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb course New Media.

His artwork is inspired by natural phenomena and the scientific research approach of light, sound and movement (or motion).[2] In 2020. Borelli received recognition for his innovation on the 35th Youth Saloon MILLENNIAL and was awarded the HPB second place for his work called Space Feedback Music (Vibrations of Space).[5] He is a member of the Croatian Composers Association (HDS) and the Croatian Association of Artists (HDLU).[2]

The field of his artistic approach and agency is multimedia. Apart from exhibitions of audio-visual and kinetic work in art galleries, as a musician, he has performed since 2009.[6] Borelli is a photographer, videographer and kinetic painter who creates interactive installations, kinetic sculptures and explores the communication of sound, light, motion and music with the audience while live performing via digital media[2].

He participated in many exhibitions residencies and festivals in Croatia and beyond, including SiIbersaltz Festival (Germany), Touch Me Festival (Croatia), IAB – Industrial Art Biennial (Croatia), Blockheide Leuchtet (Austria), Wir wollen das DAS (Austria) and MTF – Music and Technology Festival (Germany).[6]

Previously Borelli worked as an actor, director, camera operator, audio engineer and editor, appeared in performances, films and music videos. His production and applied arts company is called Studio De Borell.[7] He is a member of the music band Kosan[8] and was a member of the musical collective Beat Busters, as well as the author of an independent beatboxing project Brego Beat Box[9] and Beat Diver[10].
