After graduating from college, he joined BlackRock, where he worked in client businesses, portfolio construction, and product development. He rose to become the firm's youngest group manager before leaving to pursue an MBA at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business.[3]

While at Dartmouth, Fahad served as a career advisor and began managing his own private equity and venture investment firm. He later worked as a national security innovation fellow at the U.S. Department of Defense, where he spearheaded a China-related battlefield hardware initiative.[1]

Fahad then became a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he defended the nation's critical infrastructure against intelligence and espionage threats from the People's Republic of China.[4]

Political Career and Platform

edit

Fahad Akhtar is running for United States Congress in the Sixth District of New Jersey as a Common Sense Independent.[5]

He believes that lawmakers have left the intelligence community at a severe disadvantage against sophisticated adversaries, and he is committed to making a change:

Civil Liberties

  • Freedom of Speech: Absolute right, with exceptions for speech that poses an immediate physical danger to others.
  • Freedom of Religion: One of the nation's building blocks, with no preference for a single religion and no taxation of religious organizations.

Social Issues

  • Homelessness: Allow homeless Americans to obtain low-cost, long-term leases of federal land to establish permanent homes.
  • Gender Dysphoria: Address with common sense and historical context, without promoting it as a badge of honor.
  • Family: Implement policies that promote and strengthen the nuclear family, with "old fashioned" values that have supported human societies for millennia.

Economic Issues

  • International Trade: Prioritize American interests, preventing foreign powers from gaining a backdoor to critical infrastructure or destroying citizens' livelihoods.
  • Taxes: Minimize taxes and federal government spending to promote liberty.
  • Inflation: Reverse the trend of ceaseless price rises by ending endless deficit spending.
  • Healthcare: Ensure every American has access to free preventative, maternity, and emergency healthcare.
  • Student Loans: Forgive federal student loan debt to end modern debt peonage.

National Security

  • Foreign Military Aid: Refrain from entangling ourselves in fights beyond our borders unless necessary to achieve narrowly defined interests.
  • Defense Spending: Curtail defense spending to more sustainable levels.
  • Law Enforcement Officers: Improve leadership, training, and respect for law enforcement officers.

Environmental Issues

  • Climate Change: Address through strengthening domestic renewables production, changing our culture of wasteful consumption, and incentivizing innovation to increase the efficiency of conventional technologies.

Government Reform

  • Corporations: Ban corporate money in politics, recognizing that corporations are not people.
  • Private Prisons: Outlaw private prisons.
  • Foreign Money in American Politics: Ban foreign money in politics, treating politicians who do the bidding of foreign nations as agents of a foreign power.
