FANS Foundation is one of the leading Canadian-American non-profit organisations[1] in North America in relation to athletic opportunities for children. More specifically, the FANS Foundation is known for providing access to sports for immigrant newcomer youth in Canada[2].
Background edit
The FANS Foundation began in 2017, and is a shortened accronym for "Full Access for Newcomers to Sports"[3]. The foundation conducts giveaways to supply immigrant newcomer youth with sports equipment, eliminating barriers to their participation in sports activities[4].
FANS Foundation organizes sporting events, extending invitations to hockey games, partnered with the Calgary Flames, for promoting Canadian sporting culture.[5]
Regular bi-weekly volunteer meetings[6] are held; Similarly Calgary's Youth Central held a meeting with the FANS Foundation in late 2023, where they recognized the organisation. The foundation also hosts get-together parties with newcomer children which are often free of cost.
Development and Organisation edit
Beginning as a small non-profit, the FANS Foundation grew in the upcoming years, expanding into the former school of both co-founders, as well as it's online presence through social media and giveaways.
