Eskuad, Inc.,[1] is a Chilean/American startup company. It was founded in July 2020 as Eskuad, Inc. after being accepted at Tampa Bay Wave's Tech Diversity Cohort in 2020.[2] It is currently headquartered in Atlanta, GA,[1] but its founders and employees are distributed[3] in Portland, ME; Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; Santiago, Concepcion, and Viña del Mar, Chile; and Mar del Plata, Argentina. Eskuad, Inc. is a technology company that provides a software solution for field operators in the fields of forestry, mining, aquaculture, shipping and port operations, among others.[4]

History edit

Early years edit

Two of the co-founders, David Osorio and Max Echeverria, met while working at Mobki, a Chilean software company based in Concepcion, Chile, founded by Max Echeverria. While working on projects at Mobki, both of them got involved with forestry-related operations in the south of Chile, where the industry is relatively relevant to the economy.[5] The co-founders started to develop a basic application designed to help forestry workers digitize their activities after seeing a need for a solution working with forestry workers and experiencing the need themselves when in the field at their previous roles as software engineers for forestry companies, and as tourist guide in Patagonia and as an intern at a copper mine pit.[6]

Getting traction edit

After launching a prototype and getting traction with users, the co-founders tried to get funds to invest in the company in Chile,[7] and because it was hard, they decided to join an accelerator in the US. When looking for opportunities, they found Tampa Bay Wave[2],.[8] While in the program, they decided to incorporate as Eskuad, Inc., and after passing through the program, they restarted fundraising, getting accepted by the Start-up Chile Ignite 1 program in 2021,[9] where they managed to win the Most Innovative Solution Award.[10] While in Start-up Chile, they invited a third cofounder, Donald Inostroza, who joined right before the top-tier global accelerator, Techstars, accepted them.[6][11][12] Then, Google Latino Founders Fund backed them with an award.[13][14]

After the acceleration programs, Eskuad relaunched its platform and raised capital from private investors.[15][16][17][18] Eskuad serves customers in the United States and Chile[5][11].[19]
