Enex Technologies

edit

Enex Technologies is an Italian multinational company active in the development of energy-efficient technologies in commercial and industrial refrigeration HVAC systems using natural refrigerants: ammonia (R717), CO₂ (R744), propane (R290), water (R718).

The company was founded in 2004 by Sergio Girotto, the Venetian engineer considered the father of refrigeration systems that use only CO₂ refrigerants.:[1][2][3][4]

As of 2024, by virtue of the acquisitions made in the last 3 years, Enex Technologies is the only Climate Tech company in the world with 400 years of combined history[5] in the HVACR sector that provides solutions with the four natural refrigerants available[6] . For this reason, Enex Technologies is the only Italian company present at Harvard Climate Action Week in June 2024[7].

The company employs over 1,000 people[8] . Turnover in 2023 is 200 million euros.[7]

History

edit
  • In 2004, Sergio Girotto founds Enex (Treviso, Italy) introducing the world's first use of CO₂ as a natural refrigerant in the field of commercial refrigeration[1]
  • In 2006, Enex offers high-efficiency refrigeration systems
  • In 2015, Enex develops the first flooded chiller
  • In 2018, Enex introduces combined heating and cooling systems
  • In 2019, Enex is 100% acquired by the investment fund Cold Chain Capital Holdings Europe S.p.A. ("CCC")[9]
  • In 2022, Enex Technologies debuts as a Group at Chillventa 2022 (Roen Est, Enex, Kobol, Arctic, Samifi and Morgana)[4]
  • In 2024, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary, Enex Technologies builds a new 7,500-square-meter production and management site and a new world-class research laboratory[10][11][12]

Activity

edit

Enex Technologies operates in the commercial refrigeration sector thanks to the acquisitions of Arctic and Enex companies , in the industrial refrigeration sector leveraging on the history of Samifi France and EOS, in the HVAC sector under the Emicon and Ethratech brands, and in the production of heat exchangers with the Roen Est, Kobol and Morgana brands[13].

Enex Technologies is present in 125 countries with 12 production plants in Italy, France, Spain and Slovakia.

The Global Headquarters are located in Vacil di Breda di Piave (TV). The other two companies and four Italian production sites are located in Piove di Sacco (PD), Ronchi dei Legionari (GO), Meldola (FC) and Massa Martana (PG).

Outside Italy, the factories are located in France, in Croseilles and Groslay, in Spain in Peralta, Monistrol de Montserrat and Torres De La Almeda, and in Slovakia, in Novè Mesto Nad Vàhom.

Investments:

edit
  • 8 million euros in the new headquarters and production site of 7,500 square meters in Vacil di Breda di Piave (TV)[10][13]
  • 6 million euros in a global research laboratory, the only one in Europe specialising in natural refrigerant applications[12]

Technologies

edit

Enex Technologies' technology is focused on developing solutions that exclusively use natural refrigerants, such as ammonia (NH3), carbon dioxide (CO2), propane (C3H8) and water (H2O).
