Draft:End of Academic Session Exam (Malaysia)

The End of Academic Session Exam also known as Ujian Akhir Sesi Akademik (abbreviated as UASA; Malay) is a national examination introduced by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in 2021 to replace the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR). It was first introduced in 2021 by the then Minister of Education Radzi Jidin.[1] The exam is held from Standard 4 until Form 3. The score is calculated based on a bell curve.

For Standard 6, this exam serves as the final exam before going to SMK or SMJK. Those who fail Bahasa Melayu in SJK (C) or SJK (T) may go to 'Remove' class in SMK or SMJK.[2]

History

edit

On 28th April 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers (Mesyuarat Jemaah Menteri) abolished UPSR and replaced it with School-Based Assessments (Pentaksiran Berasaskan Sekolah, abbreviated as PBD) that started at 2021. After that, the PT3 examination was abolished on 1st June 2022.

Starting from the 2022/2023 academic session, the Ministry of Education implemented UASA to replace Year-End Examinations.
